Center for African Adventure (CAA) offers a wide range of game viewing
and hiking services. Owned and operated by former National Outdoor
Leadership School (NOLS) instructor, Njenga Mungai. CAA can take you on
a game viewing safari, staying at lodges and tented campsites, or for
those of you searching for a more unique adventure away from the usual
tourist routes, we can design a safari to meet your interests. We offer
something for everyone, from hiking and backpacking with Maasai
tribesmen in the bush, mountain trekking, technical mountaineering,
wilderness educational programs, to snorkeling in the Indian Ocean.
PRICING:
The pricing of a safari with CAA will vary depending on group size and
itinerary. A safari with only a single client will obviously be priced
the highest, usually ranging from $250 to $500 per day. For groups of
four or more the prices range from $150 to $325 per day. Groups of two
and three will fall between $200 and $375 per day. Safaris that involve
mostly hiking or backpacking will tend to be the least expensive, while
game viewing safaris will be higher. Also, the type of accommodations
you require will effect the price. Costs will be higher for those
staying and dining at lodges than for those tenting and having basic
camp meals. These prices will increase for those wishing to fly to and
from game parks as opposed to riding in safari vans or Land Cruisers.
The price will include all lodging, meals, and transportation while in
East Africa. Not included: air fare to and from Nairobi, alcohol and
other cold drinks, tips for camp staff and porters.
 Julius Njenga Mungai
Center for African Adventure is owned and operated by Julius Njenga
Mungai. Njenga has many years of experience as an outdoor educator. He
worked as an instructor with Outward Bound in the early '90s and then
the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) until the East Africa
Branch was closed in 2003. In addition to working in East Africa, he
also worked in Wyoming, Colorado and Mexico. He has instructed hundreds
of American students, as well as East African park rangers, and many of
the guides and porters on Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro. He has also
trained members of Mount Kenya’s mountain rescue squad and taught
wilderness skills to Kenyan and British soldiers. Njenga has led many
climbs of Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya including technical routes on
Mount Kenya’s main peaks, Batian and Nelion. Before becoming an
outdoor educator, he taught chemistry and physiology at high schools
and colleges in the Nairobi area.
